Before the remediation, Dong Hao Chung was seriously polluted and the living environment was poor. There are many low-income families and people with housing difficulties along DongHaoChung, who endure sewage, noise, and humid living environment for a long time.

Evening View Dong Hao Chung

When I set foot on the Yuexiu section of DongHaoChung, what I saw was a new scene. The newly planted trees are swaying in the wind, flowers are clustered along both sides of the creek, and the small waterfalls are splashing with clear water.

One side of the water platform is created, and the previous concrete embankments are all transformed into ecological embankments covered by green plants, just like a small park by the river.

Granny Ye, who has lived here for half a century, told reporters, “DongHaoChung was dirty and smelly before, and no one dared to stay here for an extra minute. We have witnessed the changes here, morning exercises and sitting here every day, taking this place as a park.”

During the renovation process of DongHaoChung, the construction materials were mainly green or gray permeable bricks and permeable floor. Both sides of the road were combined with the coastal greening configuration. A landscape leisure belt project was built on both banks of the river, and a public square park was constructed. Landscape effect of admiring greenery.

The Dong Hao Chung Museum records the entire renovation process. Now DongHaoChung has become a rare hydrophilic “green corridor” in the downtown area.
