New Year’s Day refers to the first day of the first year of the year (ie January 1). On this day, there will be many New Year’s Eve activities and celebrations across the country, especially Dragon and Lion Dance. 

International Manga Festival Animation Game Exhibition

International Manga Festival Animation Game Exhibition is one of the three national animation festival brand activities. Spring Flower Market

Spring Festival Flower Market has a long history in Guangzhou. During the festival, a row of bamboo sheds selling flowers, fresh fruits and Lunar New Year supplies will be erected on the flower market. People call it the “Flower Street”. On the eve of the Spring Festival, all major parks hold flower markets. Flower farmers from all over the country come in, selling flowers and oranges. They did not disperse until the early morning of the first day of the new year.

Guangzhou Light Show

The Flower City Plaza light concert is part of the “Guangzhou New Year,  Watch Flower At Flower City” series of activities. With the Guangzhou Tower as the center, the night view on both sides of the Pearl River and the new central axis as the background, it is linked with the live music of Huacheng Square, and a large-scale city light show is staged every half hour.

Canton Temple Fair

A traditional temple fair held during the traditional Lantern Festival in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, from the 15th to the 21st day of the first lunar month.

The Fair covers 10 themed events such as Puppet Gathering, Chinese Unique Skills, Martial Arts Conference, Lantern Festival. It also contains rich content such as blessing culture, folk culture, food culture, business and leisure culture.

During the Boluo Temple Fair, villagers and benevolent men and women in the Pearl River Delta went to the Nanhai Temple in Huangpu from all directions to pray for blessings, sightseeing, or shopping.  

The number of visitors reached hundreds of thousands.

Qing Ming Festival

Qing Ming Festival is one of the most important festivals in China.

This day is the day for the Chinese to worship their ancestors and sweep the tomb. In addition to paying attention to fire prohibition and tomb sweeping, there are also a series of custom sports activities such as walking, swinging, cuju, playing polo, and cutting willows.

Zengcheng Lychee Festival

Zengcheng is known as the hometown of lychee. Since 1990, a grand lychee festival has been held here every year. In addition to tasting and viewing lychees, a high-quality fruit unique to Lingnan, there are also activities such as singing and dancing performances, sports performances, art photography, book exhibitions, merchandise sales, and trade negotiations. Date: June to July each year

Panyu Lotus Festival

At the annual lotus festival, tourists will come to Panyu District to see lotus, taste lotus plant food, and watch other comprehensive entertainment activities. During the lotus festival, there will be more than 500 kinds of lotus from China and all over the world on display.

One of the four traditional Chinese folk festivals,  also known as Double Fifth Festival, it is also the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage festivals. The main folk activities include dragon boating, hanging wormwood and calamus, eating rice dumplings, mulan soup, flying kites, and wearing damselflies. and many more.

Mid-Autumn Festival

Since ancient times, the Mid-Autumn Festival has had customs such as admiring the moon, worshiping the moon, eating moon cakes, admiring osmanthus flowers, and drinking osmanthus wine. The Mid-Autumn Festival uses the full moon to signify the reunion of people. It is a rich and precious cultural heritage for yearning for the hometown, the love of loved ones, and praying for a harvest and happiness. Date: September 21, 2021


Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival

Since 2018, the autumn equinox of the lunar calendar has been established as the “Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival”. This festival is a festival for hundreds of millions of farmers to celebrate and enjoy a bumper harvest. It is also a vivid manifestation of the harvest and the prosperity of the country.

The full name of the Canton Fair is the China Import and Export Commodities Fair. It is held every spring and autumn. It is the largest comprehensive international trade provincial capital in my country and the embodiment of Guangzhou as a national trade center.

National Day

Date: 1st October

The Central People’s Government Committee passed the “Resolution on the National Day of the People’s Republic of China” in 1949. On October 1st of each year, it celebrates the grand festival of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, that is, National Day. There will be celebrations and military parades on different scales every 5th or 10th anniversary.

Guangzhou International Food Festival

“Food in Guangzhou” is well-known at home and abroad. The Guangzhou tourism department organizes a “Guangzhou International Food Festival” every year before and after the Autumn Fair.

The Food Festival has integrated catering, entertainment, commerce and tourism.

Guangzhou Jazz Festival

The Guangzhou Jazz Festival is a grand event for jazz fans. It is held every year in the Xinghai Concert Hall on Ersha Island. There are many big names, top musicians and jazz masters at home and abroad, bringing together more than dozens of high-level performance exchange activities.

Guangzhou's Park

Guangzhou’s parks are widely distributed in eleven districts. Except for a few parks that are scenic spots, such as Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area and Guangzhou Zoo, all major parks in Guangzhou are free to enter. 

Among them, the People’s Park (Central Park), opened in 1917, was the first comprehensive park in Guangzhou and the first free park in Guangzhou.

In addition to serving as an open space for citizens, many parks also have special historical significance, such as the Guangzhou landmark Five Rams Stone Statue in Yuexiu Park, the Tomb of the 72 Martyrs Huanghuagang, the Guangzhou Uprising Martyrs Cemetery, and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. Many parks also have various cultural functions. The prominent ones are Guangzhou Cultural Park, Guangzhou Children’s Park, Sculpture Park, etc.; each artificial lake park also has the function of regulating urban wetlands.


Guangzhou’s rail and bus system is inexpensive, environmentally friendly, and a great way to see sights throughout the city. The Metro Guangzhou Subway is well-connected and very convenient.
